Ductless have two main components – an outdoor compressor/condenser and an indoor air handling unit (evaporator). These systems let you control the temperature in a specific room, separate from your normal HVAC system. Convenient to install, ductless require only a three-inch hole through the wall for the conduit. Since these systems don’t have ducts, they are more efficient and have lower energy costs. In central air systems, duct losses can account for more than 30% of energy consumption, especially if the ducts are in an unconditioned space such as an attic or basement. Ductless have very little to no ductwork, helping you prevent unnecessary energy consumption.
